PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS
As a custom portrait artist, I work very closely with my clients and my goal is for you to be 100% satisfied with your unique portrait. To create the portraits, I use photos, which are the only source of information for my work, so I ask my clients to provide a selection of photos to create the most accurate image. The photos you send me are paramount to an excellent result, the better the photo, the better the finished portrait. Sometimes I have to reject a lot of photos due to quality issues, but that's no reason to give up. The following lines will help you take the best photos to get the truest possible portrait:

QUALITY - The first thing I look for in a photo is quality. In order to recreate the most authentic portrait of your pet possible, details are important to me, so the more details there are in the photo, the better your portrait will be. This is especially important for your pet's basic characteristics, such as the colors and shape of its eyes, nose, and fur. It is very important that the photo is clear and in focus and that all parts of your pet are visible - both eyes, ears, neck. All I rely on in my work is your photo, so please don't compromise on its quality.

LEVEL - The best position is to take the photo at your pet's eye level. Photos taken from above so that your pet is looking up look unpleasant and unnatural to the eye. The best option is when your pet is looking directly at the camera or at you. It can be with a slightly cocked head and tongue sticking out to bring more mood to the portrait, with a smiling pet.

LIGHTING – Take a photo of your pet in natural light, preferably outdoors. The best time is on a bright cloudy day, but not in direct sunlight as this can create some unpleasant images.
Turn off the flash - please NEVER use flash. Flash creates a number of problems and looks very unpleasant. It often masks a lot of detail, causes unnatural sharp shadows, changes colors and can often lead to the dreaded red-eye or glow-eye effect.

About me

Artist

I always try to give my best for excellent results.
It is important to me to use the highest quality art materials available so that my portraits will last for generations. For my color portraits I use a mixed selection of watercolours, pencils and pastels for the best color palette and use of lightfast materials; I use paints Winsor & Newton, Faber Castell Polychromos, Primsacolor Premiers, Caran D'Ache Luminance 6901. I also sometimes use Caran D'Ache Neocolor II as a base for the beginning of a portrait. The pencils I use are archival, with the highest degrees of light fastness. My graphite portraits are created using FaberCastell 9000 and Derwent Graphic Pencils. The paper I use is French Arches Aquarelle and Italian Fabriano artistico/classico 260gsm hot pressed paper which is acid free and archival museum grade.

Portrait of Sunny

I received my portrait of Sunny October 4, 2023. We lost our Sunny June 12,2023. Diana captured Sunny’s sweetness. The picture is so her. Beautiful sweet eyes. I am so pleased that when I adopt another rescue, I will have Diana do their portrait. I am so pleased. Thank you Diana.
